Mountain Hut Zala is a typical alpine log house. It is located in an idyllic location right in the centre of the ski resort Vogel, and is the biggest hut there. It was built in 1968, and renovated in 2013 and 2016. The hut is in great condition, fully furnished, and operates in full hospitality capacity. Ground floor is built out of stone, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor are built out of wood.
The hut sleeps 40 people who can rent 7 rooms (four with 4 beds, two with 3 beds and one with 2 beds) or stay in a dormitory. First two floors have balconies. Every room has a sink, but there is only one shower in the hut. There’s a toilet on every floor. Water supply is limited, because there is no natural source of drinking water on the mountain. The hut is supplied with water from rainwater tank with 40 m3 capacity, but the water isn’t drinkable. The tank and roof drains are equipped with a heating cable, therefore, the water is collected even on coldest days.
There is a professional kitchen and a large dining room on the first floor with great views of the Julian Alps and their highest peak Mount Triglav. There are 6 storage rooms with 4 deep freezers, and a special room for skiing and hiking equipment. The hut has central heating on oil. There is a cable TV and a cable internet connection – the WiFi works everywhere on the plot.
There is a large terrace on the same level as the first floor (60 sqm) with tables and chairs made of logs (6 tables, 24 chairs). Right by the terrace is the main hiking trail and in the winter a ski slope to Zadnji Vogel, so there will be people passing by. The bar and the restaurant are open to public, which increases the income, especially on sunny days. The hut also has all the permits needed for tourism rental, for the bar, and for the restaurant.
It has some great reviews on holiday rental websites and has created a good reputation amongst other competitors on Vogel.
